How does the subscription work?

Our new subscription service has a range of seasonal postage packs that we have designed with you in mind. These can be ordered either as a one-off gift box, or as a monthly subscription. Choose from some of our customer favourites, such as the ‘3 classics’ or ‘Kimchi Lovers’ triple pack or select an option which varies monthly and includes our special seasonal editions. Simply decide which pack you would like to subscribe to and select subscribe upon checking out. 

All subscriptions are listed in the Subscriptions section. You can click a subscription to view its details, including:

  • The next order date

  • Product price (excluding shipping and taxes)

  • Subscription frequency

  • Order history

  • Saved billing and shipping information


What day will my payment come out? 

The payment will be taken as a monthly recurring subscription on the date you made your first payment.

If a monthly subscription starts on the 29th, 30th, or 31st, the renewal date will change when the renewal month doesn't have a corresponding date. For example, a monthly subscription started on August 31 will renew on September 30, and it will continue to renew on the 30th of each month until February. In February, it will renew on the 28th, and will continue to renew on the 28th indefinitely.


When do subscriptions get sent out? 

We send our monthly subscription boxes on the Tuesday following your regular subscription payment.

How are the subscription packs posted? 

We send out our subscriptions using  APC weekly on Tuesdays, this is usually a next working day delivery service so should be with you on the Wednesday, the day after.

Does the order require a signature? 

Yes. You will receive an automatic text or email on the morning of the delivery date. The message will give a two hour time window in which the driver will make the delivery that day.

Which areas does the subscription service cover? 

At the moment we can only offer this service to our UK customers. If you live outside this area, please contact us for a quote. 

Do you allow for special requests? 

We can only accept requests if you have any special dietary requirements such as allergies. All our ferments are usually vegan and gluten free as standard. Unfortunately we are not able to accept requests for bespoke combinations/options as part of our subscription model at the moment, even if you are a friend or family member - it’s important to us that we get this new system up and running smoothly first! We will, however, keep a record of every recipe you receive from us so we ensure to give you as much variety as possible in our seasonal options. 

Can you do the subscription service in jars, or as part of the doorstep delivery service? 

Not at the moment! We have spent a lot of time researching and testing the best postage options for our lively little ferments to ensure they get through the post with no leaks or spills. We set up our in-house Doorstep Delivery for local customers in the Edinburgh area at the beginning of lockdown, so we will continue to review whether this service is something our customers want from us as we ease out of lockdown throughout 2021.

Can I buy a subscription as a gift? 

Yes, you can either buy the packs as a one-gift or as a subscription.  If you require a gift note please do let us know, along with your gift message when placing the order. We also offer digital gift cards, if you think this option may be more suitable. 

How does the Kombucha Recipe Kit work? 

Our Kombucha Recipe Kit is designed to give monthly seasonal recipe inspiration to those of you who already own a kombucha scoby. Each month, we will send the ingredients and recipe for the secondary fermentation. If you are brand new to making kombucha, you can get started by purchasing either our Kombucha Starter Kit which includes a jar, scoby, fabric topper, ingredients and instructions, or a Scoby Pouch Pack which comes with a fabric jar topper and instructions for use. 

How do I cancel my subscription? 

To cancel a subscription, log into your profile and  click ‘Cancel Subscription’. Cancelling a subscription doesn't automatically cancel the most recent order. You will need to email us using our contact form if you wish to request a refund.
